Kathy Fuller Fuller Water Well Service Kathy began going out on service calls with her grandfather when she was small enough to stand on the truck seat. In 1993, she started working full time on rigs with her father, and she never looked back. After 30 years in the business, she said going to work with her dad was one of the best accidental decisions she ever made. Her grandfather started the business in the 1950s, and now the fourth generation of Fullers are continuing the work of providing service to water well customers in eastern Texas. “When I first started drilling, Dad told me ‘we’re making a well that the customer is going to use for years - you need to do it right.’ I take care to make good wells that are finished in a way that protects the formations for future use. I also try to turn in good logs so anyone looking up wells in the area has good information to work with,” Kathy said. She believes having the support of her family has been a crucial part of her success. “My grandfather had to retire earlier than he would have liked because of a heart attack. I would tell him about what was happening on the rig and he would just laugh or give advice. Same with my dad. Just because he was no longer going out on the trucks, didn’t mean he probably forgot more than most folks know. My kids have been supportive of the late nights and missed games, and the company has done the same in allowing me time off for events too.” She enjoys watching cooking competitions, being active in church, metal music, and any event or sport her four children and four grandchildren are participating in. Hole Products Celebrates Women in Drilling ~ The Real Deal Hole Products, a leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance drilling supplies, tooling, and equipment, has been serving the industry for more than 15 years. Danielle Gambrel Spring Hill Well Drilling Andy Kuka started his Florida-based drilling business in the 1950s and his sons soon followed in his footsteps. Today, his granddaughter Danielle Gambrel, a third-generation licensed contractor, is running the company. Danielle said, “I have always been in the background working with my parents in their company doing office work; it wasn’t until my dad got sick that I decided to go full time and start going on service calls with my dad.” She was able to go out and meet customers while her father pushed her to do things the right way, providing the best service and products to customers. She said the best part of the job is helping people get water and being able to walk people through fixing minor problems on the phone. We asked what her biggest accomplishment has been. “I feel like the biggest accomplishment is having our company still operating for as long as we have. Before my dad passed, he prepared me as much as he could, but there were always questions that I would have, and he knew my uncle would be there to help when needed. We have been operating now for two years as a female-owned company, with my mom, and growing as much as we can,” she explained. Danielle’s husband has joined the company while her 12-year-old son is already showing an interest in the business and loves going out on service calls with his father. Danielle is quick to acknowledge how grateful she is to the amazing people working with her. “I am in charge of the day-to-day operations and making sure my guys have what they need to get their jobs done. My goal is to make it as easy for them as I can,” she said. OCTOBER 2023 WorldWide Drilling Resource® 2
