WorldWide Drilling Resource

24 APRIL 2024 WorldWide Drilling Resource® What is a Hero? by Troy Cunningham, Vice President, WorldWide Drilling Resource® I am a retired fire officer, but still in the fire service as a volunteer. People say, “You are a hero.” The only time people say this is when the fire truck arrives and puts out the fire or we have to cut them out of a car after a bad accident. Yet when they pass by me at the store, they say nothing. A hero is someone who helps people in their time of need. If that is so, then wouldn’t a water well contractor be a hero? See, we never think about how water gets to the fire truck to put out the fire, or how the water makes it to the pipes in our homes. The real heroes are the people drilling our water wells or servicing our water systems. As humans, our bodies are made up of about 60% water. Also, humans can only go without water for three to five days. All food that is grown has to have water to grow. The seed in the ground won’t grow if it doesn’t have water; cattle and fish also can’t live without water. So, let’s go back to the question: What is a Hero? Well, as we said, a hero to most people is someone who helps them in their time of need. I think we should all agree, the first hero in the hero building block would be the well drilling contractor. I could never have been called a hero without water. I say the real heroes are water well contractors, and we should all be thanking you for everything you do to keep us alive and thriving. WTR Geothermal Energy Advancing in Spain Adapted from Information by GreenFire Energy and Yoiba Energy GreenFire Energy Inc. signed a memorandum of understanding with Yoiba Energy to work together to develop geothermal energy projects in Spain. The country has geothermal energy potential with a range of low-, medium-, and hightemperature resources. As part of its energy transition strategy, Spain’s National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan set a target of 15 megawatts of geothermal power to be installed for electricity production by 2025, and 30 megawatts of electricity by 2030. Yoiba Energy is a Spanish consulting firm specializing in supplying energy for large industrial clients. The company is implementing the energy transformation policy and actively applying innovative technologies to develop geothermal power generation in Spain. The new agreement enables the companies to develop geothermal projects with GreenFire Energy’s technology, GreenLoop™ and complete solutions for geothermal power generation. GreenLoop is a versatile, closed-loop advanced geothermal system that can economically access the entire spectrum of geothermal and certain gas and oil resources, which conventional geothermal technology cannot. It enables operators and developers to retrofit idle wells, expand existing fields with new wells, and allow the development of new geothermal resources quickly and economically, with less risk. GreenLoop can be precisely tailored for optimal power generation and techno-economic feasibility. “GreenFire Energy is pleased to be partnering with Yoiba Energy to bring our GreenFire’s GreenLoop technology and complete solutions to Spain. Together, we aim to help bring energy independence and resilience while meeting Spain’s geothermal energy targets,” said Steven Brown, vice president of project development, GreenFire Energy Inc. Collaborative geothermal projects in the country could include geothermal well retrofits, purpose-drilled wells, and geothermal resource expansion opportunities. The two companies intend to drive geothermal development and bolster energy transition. GEO For more information call: (270) 786-3010 or visit us online: www.geothermalsupply.com All New!
