26 AUGUST 2024 Other People’s Opinions by Tim Connor “There are no limits to growth because there are no limits to human intelligence, imagination, and wonder.” ~Ronald Reagan In my opinion, Reagan was more than an actor and politician, his soul was always in search of a better understanding of a variety of topics which contribute to success and satisfaction with the journey into the future. One of life’s questions is, where do imagination and creativity come from and how can we master them, or just use them more wisely for a better life or simply existence? When we consider or think about imagination or creativity and how they play in our minds, there are special mind activities which impact these. Here’s a couple: 0 Other people’s opinions. I recall years ago my dad telling me to stop trying to become a writer and get a job. He said my writing was average and would never support me. Thanks a lot, Dad! A former friend also said the world didn’t need any more books on the topics I wrote about and I should “do something worthwhile.” 0 How about your inner self saying you are not and will never be good enough? We can all be smarter and learn more about subjects we are interested in. The question is, do we spend time learning and growing, or continue using past values, beliefs, or opinions which keep us stuck in these kinds of thoughts? Learning is not about school, courses, or formal circumstances. Actually, many of us need to “unlearn” some things we have been taught or believe rather than spending time on learning more. Think about it . . . is your mind filled with any material getting in the way of your success, happiness, or future in any way? I may not know you personally, but my guess to that question, based on what I have learned from meeting thousands of people around the world and from the hundreds of books I have read over the years is - yes.
