32 AUGUST 2024 WorldWide Drilling Resource® The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” Failure Sooner or later, everyone fails at something - financially, in relationships, business, health, careers, etc., but there are a variety of ways to deal with it when it comes to your life and/or in your business. If I had to guess, I’d wager you are in this category of failing at least once over the years, so I thought this month I would share what I have observed over my many years watching people and organizations fail at something. This article could be a book, but I’m not going to waste your time preaching. I’ll let you decide when failure comes into your life, how you handle it - like an idiot or a success, but trust me, my observations have been many people handle it like idiots rather than with wisdom, common sense, or maturity. First a few relevant quotes: Okay, a few things idiots do when they fail are: b Always blame someone or something else. b Give up and stop trying to improve or achieve success. b Blame a curse or karma. b Don’t admit or acknowledge the failure. b Don’t learn from it. b Keep trying, but don’t change anything. b Tell others they are just helpless. b Say the consequences of their failure are normal outcomes of something everyone gets when they fail. I could go on with this list for pages, but let me just wrap it up with a simple truth. Failure happens to all of us. We can choose to use it as a tool for growth and learning or we can always point the finger, blame, and never take responsibility, therefore never improving. Which approach do you think is the wisest - acting like an idiot or someone with a desire to improve and get better?
