34 DECEMBER 2024 WorldWide Drilling Resource® In Memoriam K.C. “Craig” Stainton With deep sadness, the Ontario Ground Water Association (OGWA) announced the passing of former President and Executive Director K.C. “Craig” Stainton on October 11, 2024, at the age of 69. As President of OGWA, Craig played a crucial role in advancing the association's mission and advocating for policies promoting the responsible use of groundwater. In his later role as Executive Director, Craig continued to work tirelessly to ensure the industry remained at the forefront of innovation and education. He was respected by his colleagues for his wealth of knowledge and genuine care for the well-being of the groundwater industry. Craig's brother Brent carries on the family business, Stainton’s Ltd Pumps and Well Drilling, which has been in operation since 1964. Beyond his professional achievements, Craig will be remembered for his love of classic cars, along with his warmth and personal connections he formed with so many. Craig leaves behind his spouse Phil; sister Nancy (Jim); brother Brent; nieces and nephews Haley (Brandon), Jaime (Peter), Todd, Ashley (Cam), and Paula. Ronald Lee “Ron” Paris (1957~2024) The Mobile Drill International Team in Indianapolis, Indiana, is mourning the sudden loss of Ronald Lee “Ron” Paris on October 6, 2024. A longtime employee, Ron was friendly, reliable, and professional in all he did, and with all those he encountered. He graduated in 1975 from Perry Meridian High School, then later from Ivy Tech. Most of his life was spent in Indianapolis, except for a few years in Florida. Ron will be greatly missed by his twin sisters Marilyn and Caroline. Dwight Elmer Newman (1945~2024) Dwight Elmer Newman, 79, of Elkin, North Carolina, passed away September 24, 2024. Born in Surry County, Elmer never met a stranger, was known for his friendliness to all, and using his trademark catchphrase “Gotcha covered!” He enjoyed spending time at the coast, being near the water at Snug Harbor on Radio Island, tinkering around, and fixing things. Truly, Elmer's greatest joy and love in life was his family, which he made sure they always knew by his words of encouragement and big warm hugs. Elmer, along with his cousin Mike, assumed joint leadership of Newman Brothers Well Construction Inc. in 1972 - and made a great team. Over the years, Elmer served on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Well Contractors Certification Commission and on the Board of Water Quality for the state. He was given a lifetime award for service to the North Carolina Ground Water Association. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jane; son Kevin (Mari); daughter Amy (John); grandchildren Matthew, Madison, and Kaito; sisters Ann (Jerry), Vonda (Mike), and Rosa (Nicky); cousin Mike and other extended family. Dolores Jane “Dody” Brothers (1936~2024) Dolores Jane “Dody” Brothers passed away October 9, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Born in Butte, Montana, in 1936, Dody graduated from Butte High School. She married the love of her life Jerry, in 1958. He passed in 2019. She was passionate about ceramics and opened Dod’s Ceramics in the 1960s, continuing to teach until recent years. Very active with the Montana State Ceramic Association, Dody served as President for multiple terms. She and Jerry were also actively involved with the Montana Water Well Driller’s Association. Having been a Butte High Twirler, Dody had a love of dance. She thoroughly enjoyed daughter Jodie’s and granddaughter Dee’s years in the Purple B’z Drill Team, and stayed involved for decades afterward running pasty sale fundraisers for the B’z and Butte High Band. She is fondly known by many as “The Pasty Lady.” Most recently, Dody was a regular spectator at Montana State watching her favorite cheerleader, granddaughter MaKinzie. Dody is survived by sons Jerry (Jane) and Wayne (Wendy); daughter Jodie (JR); grandchildren Dee, Katie (Zak), Erik (Lauryn), Ryan (Brooke), and MaKinzie; three great-grandsons; a great-granddaughter due soon; friend and brother in-law Frank (Shirley); special niece Judy (Keith); and numerous other extended family members.
