28 MAY 2024 WorldWide Drilling Resource® In Memoriam Murray Stephen Jones (1952~2024) The Ontario Ground Water Association was saddened to report the passing of member Murray Stephen Jones on March 14, 2024. Murray worked alongside his parents, brother Bruce, and sister Janet at Mervin Jones Drilling for over 50 years and absolutely loved his job. In retirement, he enjoyed morning coffee with neighbor Cliff, chatting with people around town, spending time at the trailer with family, and ripping up the streets on his scooter or in his Corvette. Left to cherish memories of Murray are his wife Bonnie; children Shannon (Elliott); stepchildren Pam (Rob) and Sherry (Mike); grandchildren Sandra (Andrew), Ariel (Bijay), Tyler, Vanessa, Zack, Gwen, Norman, and Johnny; great-grandchildren Audree and Jayviut; and other extended family. He will also be missed by his grandpups Behr and Millie. Richard H. “Dick” Stothoff (1934~2024) The New Jersey Ground Water Association announced Richard H. “Dick” Stothoff passed away March 15, 2024. Born in Ringoes, he resided in the Flemington area all his life, graduating from Flemington High School in 1952, and going on to receive his master’s degree in engineering from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent five years in the U.S. Air Force on its epidemiological team in Georgia and Turkey, then returned home to the family business, Samuel Stothoff Co., Inc., established in 1886, of which he was coowner. Dick spent much of his life in community activities, first as an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. In fact, Dick and his brother Sam shared the Distinguished Citizens Award given by the Boy Scouts of America in 1992, as well as the Hunterdon Men of the Year in the year 2000. He was a long-time member and past-president of the Hunterdon County Historical Society; member of the Raritan Township Historical Society; member of the Mount Amwell Project, which advocates preserving Hunterdon County history; member and past-president of the Flemington Rotary Club; and member of the Hunterdon County Soil Conservation Board. In addition, he served as the water operator with the Borough of Flemington, sat on the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, was a member of the Advisory Board of the Well Drillers Association, and was a licensed New Jersey Master Well Driller. Moreover, he loved history, animals, gardening, trees, and the Boy Scouts of America. Dick was also a tremendous philanthropist, always giving to the community. Dick was predeceased by his brother Sam; sister-in-law Elaine; and niece Dawn. He is survived by his wife Priscilla; children Stuart (Maria), Scott (Kathy), and Shelley (David); grandchildren Michael, Benjamin, Alyssa, Christopher, Kurstin, Katherine, and Jack; great-grandchildren Avery and Parker; stepsister Jane (Phillip); brother-in-law David and his children Pam and Peter, along with sister-in-law Verna and niece Sandra. The management and staff of WWDR extend their sympathies to Murray’s and Dick’s family and friends. Lest we forget . . . It costs NOTHING for you to allow the WWDR Team to honor your deceased loved one. ronnie@ worldwidedrillingresource.com
