This system is set to deliver regulated drinking water to qualifying households and is expected to be finished by the end of 2026. Coterra Energy is contributing $16.25 million to help fund the initiative. Any remaining funds will be allocated to cover water bills for those impacted. Pennsylvania American Water has been chosen to handle the design, permitting, and construction of the system, which will feature a new groundwater source, state-of-the-art treatment facilities, and a six-mile distribution network connecting to local homes. The company has successfully drilled two test wells to explore potential sources of drinking water. They submitted an aquifer test plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP). This plan will evaluate the water flow rate from the wells and is a necessary component of the application for establishing a new water source. To prevent any risk of cross-contamination, all existing plumbing will be disconnected from the individual wells currently in use. The public water supply will undergo treatment to eliminate any potential contaminants in the groundwater and to comply with all PA DEP standards for public drinking water. Construction has commenced on the water pipeline, marking the second phase of a multiyear initiative to create a public groundwater supply. This system incorporated a four-stage treatment process designed to eliminate contaminants and ensure a consistent supply of clean and safe drinking water. “We are proud to play a role in delivering a lasting, safe water solution for the people of Dimock,” said Thom Chiomento, Vice President of business development, government, and external affairs at Pennsylvania American Water. “This project demonstrates the power of public-private coordination to protect health and restore trust in a community’s water supply.” CONST WTR
