40 MARCH 2025 WorldWide Drilling Resource® In Memoriam Norman Albert Howard (1939~2024) Hearts filled with love, a family remembers the life of Norman Albert Howard, who departed this world on November 28, 2024 ~ a man who loved his family and will be missed by many. Born September 23, 1939, in Compton, California, to Fredonia Myrtle Tempe and Norman Nicholas Howard, he was the oldest of three children. He was preceded in death by his parents; his younger brother Steven; grandson Nathan; his loving wife of 32 years, Barbara; and later his wife Carole. Norman is survived by his brother David Howard; his children Norman (Karen) Howard and Monica (Paul) Walton; stepson Kyle Schafer; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Having a zeal for life, Norman met every challenge with a can-do attitude. He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Herring, in 1959. They shared a beautiful life together and had two children, Norman and Monica, of which he said, “Raising you kids was the best part of my life.” Norman served his country by enlisting in the Marines. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton and was trained to be an expert marksman, rising to serve as a sniper in Force Recon. Taking over his father’s business, Howard Pump Incorporated, he worked nearly his whole life bringing water to the California, Nevada, and Arizona residents. In 1998, he passed the business to his sons and nephews so he could spend more time in the outdoors. He retired to the North Fork Area, to enjoy the blessings of southern Utah, and after moved to the Meadow Creek Ranch in Mt. Carmel, Utah. Norman loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and off-roading. He was one who loved to work hard and recreated even harder, while sharing the beauty of the outdoors with others. A Celebration of Life was held for Norman on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Kanab, Utah; he was laid to rest with his wife Barbara and grandson Nathan in the Mountain View Memorial Park of Barstow, California. The management and staff of WWDR extend their sincere condolences to Norman’s family and friends. Lest we forget . . .
