Let me be clear from the start, I am not against technology as a whole, but I also believe every situation, circumstance, or activity in life has both potential and negative future traits or outcomes. Whether it’s the latest change in society or the Internet, my point is in the past, technological and social activity changes have had both positives and negatives on life. I also feel many of these changes create a new environment or opportunities for idiots out there, because many of them love uncertainty. Since I have limited space here, what I would like to share is what I believe idiots would like us to NOT be aware of or at a minimum avoid discussing. And yes, some of them might be brilliant in some ways, but I still put many of them in the idiot category. Let me explain. The following are just a few of the many potential negatives that AI could or will create, and the unwillingness of these folks to want us to be aware of. And yes, I am sure there will be many positives like social media sources, cell phones, and electric cars - but the positives don’t cancel or prevent the negatives. So, in no special order, here are just a few that AI will: • Contribute to an increase in information disruption, manipulation, confusion, a lack of truth, and ignorance. I asked AI last week to tell me why AI is smarter than me and the answer was - because you are human. Duh! • Contribute to political, social, financial, gender, and race biases. So I asked Chatbox AI to explain why there is confusion in some of these above areas and the response was - “I will do my best to explain the answer, but I’m not sure you are wise enough to manage my response.” • Contribute to uncertainty, job loss, financial disruption, the loss of copyright value. I asked what it thought of this article so far. - “Where are you going with this? Your negative attitude is not helpful.” • Contribute to a loss of privacy and will create greater social surveillance. Big Brother has been watching us for years whether Google, the mobile phone industry, or the government - and if you don’t think they know more than we want them to know about us, you are living in la-la land. • Contribute to a loss of human touch. I’m not talking about you texting to your spouse that you’re going to be late. I’m referring to the inability to learn what we need to learn about human behavior, reactions, desires, fears, etc. Sorry folks, you can’t solve a relationship dispute or argument by e-mail. • Contribute to increased criminal activity. Do you really think everyone out there in the world is going to always use AI for the good of society? Sorry, we are living in crazy times when it comes to people thinking others are not as valuable or important as them, whether it’s behind the wheel of a car or stealing their credit. Here is a real circumstance I had last week trying to solve a problem with one of my vendors. I called and asked to speak with someone in customer service. The robot who answered said, “I can help you.” So I asked. The answer was to transfer me to another robot. Asked the question again and the answer was, “I will connect you with someone who can help you.” This happened seven times, so I asked the last robot why it couldn’t help me with the problem. The response was, “Sorry we can’t help, goodbye.” I will bet a few of you have had a similar experience recently. Let me close with a response when I asked AI to give me some negative famous AI quotes. It took me to an AI Quote Generator. What is a free AI Quote Generator? It’s a random quote source that automatically creates quotes based on the user input or request. It uses artificial intelligence to mix and match words and phrases. So, it can take a famous quote by someone a thousand years ago and manipulate it in a way to satisfy my request or need.
