35 SEPTEMBER 2025 WorldWide Drilling Resource® The “Idiots” Corner by “Billy Bob Smith” Top 20 Idiot Traits I know during the past couple of years I have picked on certain groups of idiots because they are easy to spot or find, but I thought this month I would be a little more general in my discussion. I would like you to take a few notes as you read the following and list or think of folks you know who might relate to the category. Here are the following 20 traits or categories I have found to be an accurate description of most of these folks. Yes, there can be more than the ones I have listed below, but from my life experience, these are the most obvious or detrimental ones. Now to be clear, not everyone has all of them. And you can have folks who are smart, successful, and nice who have one or two of them - either temporarily or permanently. What I am suggesting is the more of the following a person has, the more easily they will tend to, in my opinion, put themselves permanently in the group of idiots who surround us every day. The following are in no order in terms of ranking or importance. And since I am sure you have a lot on your plate, I will keep all of the following really short, because this could be a book. Here are the 20: 1. Always in a Hurry - They are always passing people in traffic no matter how fast the people in front of them are going; cut to the head of lines when they think they can get away with it. 2. Poor decision making - Everything is always a maybe, or I’m not sure, it depends, or I’ll let you know. 3. Ignore consequences - Planning is not in their DNA, so naturally they tend to make a lot of mistakes, poor decisions, or actions that end badly. 4. Finger pointing - Always have to blame others, they just can’t look in the mirror and think, “Well, maybe it’s me.” 5. Lack of responsibility - Nothing is ever their fault whether it’s Titanic or losing a sports game, being overweight, or addicted to something. 6. Stuck in the past, present, or future - Planning is not a practical skill for them, so they tend to keep repeating the same actions, thoughts, mistakes, etc. 7. Poor time management - “Time - are you kidding me? I’ve got all the time in the world I need in life. I’m in charge of what happens and when.” 8. Expectations that never happen - Are always disappointed in something or someone for not happening or acting like they expect or when they expected. 9. Short attention span - Their memory is like a toilet. As soon as you flush it, it’s all gone like it was never there in the first place. 10. Emotional immaturity - See someone screaming, whining, or crying for no reason - you guessed it, they are in the “I” club. 11. Don’t learn from the past - Keep making the same mistakes over and over again no matter the previous consequences. They either can’t learn or remember or both. 12. Arrogance - They always have to be in charge, smarter than everyone and better no matter what they are doing - cooking, swimming, or playing tennis. 13. Lack self-improvement - They don’t read, take courses, consider, keep a journal, or ever think, “You know, maybe I could be better at this.” 14. Slow or poor thinking skills - They act like they are deep in thought, but they are really lost in the past somewhere. 15. Poor communication skills - They tend to swear a lot, mix up words, make no sense, and often cannot even finish a sentence or thought. 16. Constantly resist change - They are always in resist mode when something new shows up. 17. Have a lack of common sense - They do not even know what common sense is. 18. Intellectually dumb - What can I say? They are stupid and can’t have an intelligent conversation about anything. 19. Impulsive behavior - They are quick to react to something either positively or negatively- even if it’s not about them. 20. A selfie mindset - No matter what, it’s me, me, me. Had enough? I know I have. Billy Bob Contact him via e-mail to michele@worldwidedrillingresource.com Don’t miss these great opportunities! Call for details 850-547-0102 Groundwater Week Pinpointer Map!
