31 JULY 2026 WorldWide Drilling Resource® Robotic Cutting System for Pipeline Rehabilitation Adapted from Information by Aries Industries When it comes to pipeline rehabilitation, the effectiveness of liners is directly tied to the condition of the host pipe they are installed in. Things like roots, mineral deposits, protruding taps, and offsets can all interfere with proper liner installation. Failing to address these issues before lining, can lead to folds, improper curing (areas of the liner that don’t fully harden), and early liner failure. This is why prelining preparation is one of the most important steps in rehabilitation. Common obstructions that undermine lining: j Roots are drawn to moisture and nutrients often breaking through cracks in pipes. Before installing lining, remove all roots. j Scale, or mineral buildup, on interior walls of the pipes create uneven surfaces which can diminish hydraulic capacity and effectively reduces the diameter of the pipe. This can lead to voids or folds messing with the structural integrity of the liner installation process. Removing scale restores pipe capacity and ensures a clear surface. j Protruding taps, or service connections, extending into the mainline must be cut flush before lining an unobstructed surface. Removal also ensures access for cleaning and inspections after installation. j Offsets can occur due to ground movement or natural settling of pipes over time. These must be reshaped through grinding ensuring a seamless transition. Lining without addressing offsets compromises the ability to send cleaning or inspection equipment through and inhibits flow. To tackle these challenges, Aries’ Wolverine® 2.0 Self-Propelled, Robotic, Electric Cutting System was designed. With powerful and precise cutting tools, Wolverine clears roots, scale, offsets, and intruding taps ensuring a clean, uniform pipe surface. By starting with Aries Wolverine 2.0 Cutting System, contractors can guarantee liners are installed correctly and perform for decades. Prelining prep is most effective when delivered with detailed inspections. Aries’ inspection systems provide operators with the insights they need to target obstructions. Before and after cutting always inspect both. Initial inspection identifies problem areas, while follow-up inspection confirms the pipe is fully prepped and ready for liner installation. With Aries’ inspection and cutting solutions you can eliminate obstructions, achieving a smooth liner installation, and extend the life of your rehabilitation projects. WTR Booths 510, 512
