27 JANUARY 2025 WorldWide Drilling Resource® New Water Well and Pump for the Bentley-Brown Family Adapted from Information by Xylem Brandi Bentley-Brown living in Rimrock, Arizona, with her husband Tai and son Drake since 2017 face the daily challenge of hauling water due to a shared well serving their home and five other households, that went dry in 2018. Despite her own health struggles with mast cell activation syndrome, Brandi works extra shifts to support her family and care for her terminally ill mother and three nephews, while also addressing her son’s ongoing medical treatment, which adds to the family’s expenses. Her household now has dependable water access after six years without it, thanks to a new water well system made possible by Xylem Inc., the Water Well Trust (WWT) and Waterboys, a charity initiative founded by two-time Super Bowl Champion, Chris Long. The project was fully covered, including equipment, drilling, installation, and home improvement projects, with the expert installation of Karam Brothers in Northern Arizona, using PVC piping materials provided by the Vinyl Institute. “This well is truly lifechanging for us,” Brandi explained. “We’ve spent so much time and effort just trying to get by without reliable water - hauling jugs, borrowing trailers, and depending on friends to shower or do laundry. It’s been exhausting, but it also made me realize how fortunate we are to have that support. This well means so much more than water - it’s stability, relief, and a huge weight lifted off our shoulders.” Xylem and WWT have collaborated on this 20th project of HometownH2O, a domestic water initiative to provide clean sustainable water to communities in need across the United States. HometownH2O, launched in early 2020, is a joint effort between Long, his foundation’s Waterboys initiative, and Xylem to address water scarcity issues affecting over 2.2 million Americans who lack access to clean water at home. Xylem, through its Goulds Water Technology brand, engages in regular water well initiatives to provide secure water access to low income areas, while also working to raise public awareness of challenges associated with limited water access. “We’re honored to support Brandi and her family with a reliable source of clean water through our HometownH2O initiative,” said Susan O’Grady, senior director of marketing, building services and agriculture, Xylem. “Access to water is essential, yet too many families in rural areas still face significant challenges. With our partners, we’re not only helping to solve immediate water access issues, but also raising awareness about the ongoing water crisis in communities across the country.” WTR
