26 NOVEMBER 2026 WorldWide Drilling Resource® of #3. There were many times when I was seduced by a pretty word only to discover I’d been lied to. Watch what a person does rather than immediately believe what he or she says. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. Remember, trust is earned. Act with integrity at all times because when you do, you’ll have no regrets later. 5. Use Your Imagination - Get outside your comfort zone, take risks, and try new things. Exercise your imagination daily and you’ll enjoy a fuller, more interesting life. 6. Look for Alternatives - There is always more than one way to accomplish something. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. If you hear someone say, “This is the way we’ve always done things,” what you’re really hearing is an opportunity for some creative-thinking and innovation. 7. Have a Purpose in Life - You’ll live longer and happier if you have goals you want to achieve. Find your passion and do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. 8. Learn to be Mindful - Being mindful means living in the present. Don’t ruminate about the past; and don’t worry about the future. If you’re really stuck ask: “What one thing can I do today to move forward?” If necessary ask: “What can I do in the next hour?” When something goes wrong or you feel bad or sad, recite this mantra: “This Too Shall Pass.” Find positive and healthy ways to express your feelings and emotions. Emotions which go unexpressed can return as disease. Learn to be resilient; get back into the game as soon as you can, and never give up. 9. Be Kind - Be respectful to others and use your manners, but also be kind. I’m sure you’ve never been unkind, but try to find within your own experience a way to relate to and understand someone’s problems. Have empathy for others because you never know what other people are going through. People will always remember what you did for them. 10. Appreciate - There’s an old saying: “Stop and smell the roses.” In other words, take time to appreciate what you have and the beauty in the world around you. Savor the simple pleasures. Most of these suggestions work together. I could expound on each of these at length (and probably have in my previous writings), but this is just a road map to help you find your way if you get lost. Oh, and don’t wait as long as I did to teach them to your kids! Robert Robert is an innovation/change speaker, author, and consultant.
